House Hold Iteams

At rag-and-bone.co.uk we believe in recycling and trying to make good use of household items that are otherwise surplus to requirements. That’s why we designed this website, to provide an essential resource through which people can find good homes for their no longer needed, but still usable or repairable, items.

If large or bulky household items still have some life left in them, then why not enable someone else to benefit from them, instead of simply throwing them away and adding to even more waste in the environment?

The idea came about when we ourselves had a number of items (including a fridge-freezer, a snooker table and a lawnmower) that were still in good working order, but we were moving and had no room to take them with us. We felt it was extremely wasteful to throw them away, and required far too much effort to try to sell. We would have loved to have given them away to someone who could continue to make use of them, but at the time, there was no way of linking up with people to let them know the items were available, for free, to be collected.

We’ve therefore set up rag-and-bone.co.uk – a central place to advertise large or bulky household items that are no longer required, and where others can search to find items they can give a new home.

Rag-and-bone.co.uk is a family owned business and launched in April 2005.

We hope that everyone enjoys using it.
